Rangers Ease Through

UEFA Europa League Qualifiers

Scottish Premier League runners up Rangers FC took a convincing lead to the Ibrox stadium next week as they eased past St Joseph’s FC after a clinical second-half display.

A very good defensive display from Raul Procopios’ men saw the game go to the interval with a 0-0 scoreline.

Despite being on the backfoot for most of the half St Joseph’s also posed a threat themselves on occasions, Villar could have done better to connect from a free kick cross as he was unmarked on the back post, with Christian Pecci and Domingo Ferrer also having half chances at the Rangers goal.

With the Celtic Upset three years ago at the Victoria Stadium at the hands of Lincoln Red Imps, Rangers made sure they would not fail.

After a frustrating first half, it just took 5 minutes for Rangers to get on to the score sheet when Ryan Jack volleyed the ball into the back of the net just before their new signing Sheyi Ojo on loan from Liverpool FC doubled their advantage.

Just 10 mins later Rangers went 0-3 when Barisic’s free kick was clawed out by Mateo Vera in goal after it has crossed the line.

With Rangers in total control, St Joseph’s legs were not as fast as the first half, with Raul having to make some changes to the delight of the crow present as three locals were introduced into the playing field (Andrew Hernandez, Ryan Casciaro and new signing Sykes Garro).

Rangers top scorer last season Morelos was introduced late in the second half to score the 4th goal for rangers with a close-range header.

Rangers tally remained at four with their job done and practically securing their spot into the next round.
