Middle Schools Interschool Netball

St Joseph’s Blue walked away as the new champions of the Erin Valverde Interschool after two days of intense netball played the Tercentenary Sports Hall.

Champions St Joseph’s Blue

Due to the high number of girls who play netball at this age group, two competitions were held simultaneously, the Championship Cup (Erin Valverde Trophy)and the Challenge Cup.

All participating schools had to enter on the Championship Cup, and it was very good to see all middle schools taking part in the competition, with only 5 schools entering another team on the challenge cup.

The tournament itself were r a round robin format to be able to accommodate as many games as possible in the two evenings available.

As mentioned, St Joseph’s Blue were the eventual winners of the tournament with an impressive 25 points winning 5 games from 5.  Bishop Green were the runners up with 21 points and with the game against St Joseph’s their only defeat.

As for the Challenge Cup, Yellow Hawks from Loreto Convent were the eventual winners just a point ahead from the runners up Bishop Yellow.

Following the event, a presentation of medals was awarded to all participants and individual award winners as well as trophies to the winners and runners up of both competitions.

A full report and photos will be covered in the forthcoming print of Gibsport.
