XXI Commonwealth Games Gold Coast 2018

Day nine at the XXI Commonwealth Games on The Gold Coast, Australia brought a first for Team Gibraltar on the Carrara Stadium Track. Harvey Dixon running in the first heat of the 1500m qualified for the final, finishing 6th in the heat but more importantly his time of 3:47:03 placed him as the 2nd fastest non automatic qualifier after the two heats had been run.

Harvey running in his second games said after the race “I’m delighted to have made the final it was my aim coming in to the games and all the hard work and training has paid off, I’m glad I stepped back from the 800m to concentrate on this race.” He went on to add “the tactics worked, I stayed with the bunch as was able to stay with them until the last 200, I know I can run faster and now I’m looking forward to the final.”

On the Clay Range, Kevin Cowles was in action in the Trap qualification stage and with another day to go he is currently lying in 15thspot out of 40 competitors and two clays difference covering 10 places.
