MSAC Opening Competition


A total of 39 anglers took part in the first competition of the 2013 season held by the Mediterranean Shore Angling Club held on Sunday 27th January last.
Held at the South Mole early in the morning, where the anglers had to negotiate the north westerly winds, the low tide and the clarity of the water. But notwithstanding the circumstances, a good number of fish were brought to the scales, in total 234 specimens. The predominant species landed were the White Bream (64), Comber (67) and the Black Bream.
The top angler of the day was Rafa Franco who landed the heaviest fish, a 910grams Common Sea Bream. Manolo Asquez landed the 2nd heaviest, a 690grams Wrasse.
The highest aggregate points of the contest was accumulated by Christian Asquez with a total of 511 points. In 2nd place we had Mark Olivero who managed 338 points.
Some other good catches were also landed by Reginald Chichon (670g Wrasse), Barry Slater (600g Scorpion Fish and a 540g Black Bream)m Mark Olivero also accounted for a 620g White Bream and finaly Albert Gonzalez (senior) with a 440g Pandora Bream.
