Gotland Island Games 2017

The Gibraltar shooters were at it again.  1 gold, 1 silver and 1 bronze were won, making it a total of 9 gold medals so far (2 gold, 4 silver, 3 bronze).

With just half of the weeks competition held so far they have already equalled their tallies from the previous two Island Games.

The first medal of the day came from the ISSF 25m Standard Pistol team event.  Jonathan Patron and Daniel Payas won their 2nd medal in the games with a total combined score of 1033.

Sasha Alexdottir and Bettina Manner also won their 2nd medal of the games, with a total combined score of 1069 they claimed the bronze medal in the ISSF 25m Pistol team event.  (Not a bad birthday present for Bettina).

The highlight of the day was a second gold medal won in the Automatic Ball Trap, on this occasion in the individual event which was won by James (Tom) Sawyer in what was a great shootout against Juan Manuel Bagus Bosch from Menorca, which ended up in a tie at 131 points.  After extras Sawyer managed to get the better of him 20-18 to claim his and Gibraltar’s 2nd gold medal of the games so far.
